This is the place where you can personalize your profile!
But, how?
By moving, adding and personalizing widgets.
You can drag and drop to rearrange.
You can edit widgets to customize them.
The bottom has widgets you can add!
Some widgets you can only access when you get a premium membership.
Some widgets have options that are only available when you get a premium membership.
We've split the page into zones!
Certain widgets can only be added to certain zones.
"Why," you ask? Because we want profile pages to have freedom of customization, but also to have some consistency. This way, when anyone visits a deviant, they know they can always find the art in the top left, and personal info in the top right.
Don't forget, restraints can bring out the creativity in you!
Now go forth and astound us all with your devious profiles!
Ok, so now I'm a "Group Founder" I have to have a proper "about yourself" thing. Um... I'll tell you something about me - I hate "about yourself" things. How can I sum up how awesome I am in just a few words?! I mean, look at that avatar... Awesome, right? ...Right?! That'll do, pig.

Check this out Liam. I first thought Oh yeah, some photography using innocence and some shock factor. (Im not too keen on shock factor with little girls) but techniques fascinate me. Then I looked a little closer. Know what Ive been saying about time factor? Holy crikey malikey. Check out the detail on "Anna" he links to on his home page.[link] have you come across his work locally?
No, I haven't come across him - but then, I dont mix in the right circles. My entire experience with the world of art is Bob Ross, a visit to the odd gallery and dA, of course. And I find, round these parts, there's an awful lot of focus on "trendy" artists. ( I have a cousin who spent $6000 on something that looked like my palette after a hard days painting.) I saw your post on FB about this guy's work. It really is amazing. I've looked into photo-realism before. I know there are people who think it has no artistic merit. Like how Shiskin's landscapes were mocked for looking too real. Lol. I understand where these critics are coming from but, come on. How can you poo-poo art that literally makes people go "Fuck me, that's a PAINTING?!" Having said that... (And I feel lousy saying this, as if Gottfried is going to hear me and go cry in a corner,) But I prefer painterly paintings. Just sayin'
there ARE a couple of his though that I love, where they have that amazing photorealism coupled with a touch of artiness, i.e. the background has obvious brushsrokes (not quite brushstrokes but you get me,) or the hair looks as though the further away from the face he went, the less he cared about detail ( I cant find it here. I think I saw that in your FB link)
Its a fine line between Art and Craft, isnt it. I spoke on this topic at the Art Society meeting on Saturday. I think I managed to offend pretty much everyone and was out of there by 11.20am. BONUS ! But I was talking about Art as a business and I defined Art by its level of Creativity, and Craft by its level of Skill. It wasnt that the two could not cross borders, in fact its almost impossible not to. The point was about the market, and the two main reasons people buy paintings. If the colours are chosen to adhere to fashion trends , if its textured work for aesthetic reasons, or if its representational again for aesthetic reasons, then its Craft. If it has soul, if it has story and if the buyer could care less whether or not it matched their decor, its probably Art. The reason I bothered going into it was to encourage them to decide which category they were mostly in, so that the work could be marketed accordingly. No point trying to flog off a picture of a bunch of flowers whos colours were out of fashion, but that also lacked story. Or trying to sell a perfectly rendered portrait of some person nobody knows unless theres a quality to the light, or a mood in their expression. Anyway. I should have realised that the whole room were mostly cake eating socialites who treated their Art and their Golf with the same casual regard. They mostly believe that if they keep practising for 3 hours a week, that someday their work will be worth thousands. I guess the borderline is drawn by the level of passion. One painting can be well rendered but lack passion and be considered Craft, but the very same picture injected with some feeling would then become Art. Maybe Ill call it The Passion Line. Below the line $200. Above the line $2000. That'll do.
Beautifully put. I typed those two words then stared at the screen for about ten minutes trying to think of something, anything to add, but I cant. Just picture me nodding all the way through your monologue then gazing at my pint in deep contemplation, if it helps.
